In 2024, a major international conference on heritage conservation will be held in Montreal, Canada. The Association for Preservation Technology (APT), National Trust for Canada, and Canadian Association of Heritage Professionals (CAHP) have joined forces, once again, to present this conference entitled Building Bridges. The conference will focus on connecting places, cultures, and practices in order to bridge the knowledge gap and gain new insights upon the ongoing challenges in historic preservation, climate resiliency, and social equity.
Montreal is North America's francophone cultural metropolis and a world-renowned heritage hub: a site of exchange amongst Indigenous peoples since time immemorial; an historic gateway connecting the Atlantic Ocean with the Great Lakes as well as western North America; a city settled by the French in 1642 with a richly layered legacy of heritage buildings and landscapes; a heritage industry, research, and practice hotspot, alive with innovative conservation, construction, and development projects.
The conference will seize upon this exceptional blend of history, place, practice, and expertise for a truly inspiring event.
